Even though the day starts with a steady , gentle drizzle this is not going to stop our explore of the inner suburbs of Vancouver.
We have a couple of chores to knock off, André forgot his cap so we head off to Mt Pleasant where there is a cluster of outdoor shops. Our favourite MEC ( Mountain Equipment Co-op ) have moved a few blocks away but still functions on a membership basis. André hauls out his membership number from the 80’s and he is still in the system. A couple of essential purchases selected we head to the check out and just like at a supermarket with all those sweet treats lining the aisle to the check-out they have placed small, tempting purchases there while we wait. Of course we could not resist the ultra lite gortex soap holder, it weighs nothing, fits any soap and will continue to dry through even when the soap is wet inside thanks to its breathable membrane.
We are suckers for something pragmatic and with less plastic., add to to the bill please.
We are steadily getting wetter , so it’s time to head to our little cozy bed and breakfast. André does a research and finds a bakery café within four blocks of where we are staying. Of course it’s time for afternoon tea and the “Flourist” we go.
This is a young enterprise, with a thought that stone ground healthy flour is in demand right in the city and why not add a little cafe as well.
Of course we have to sample, I choose the homemade hazelnut and dark chocolate spread on their sourdough bread sprinkled with cinnamon and an accompanying hot chocolate. It does not disappoint!
Satisfied in our dessert pouch we head home to do the final repack for our flight to the Yukon tomorrow.
The 4am cab is booked and we feel we just need to re-sample the “The Burrow“. The staff are super friendly and chatty , curious to know why we are back already 😋😊 . Another delicious meal and off to bed we go for a quick nap. Our jet -jag almost recovered now. To the Yukon we go !
It’s lovely to read your blog again. Have fun in the Yukon. X
